a twist on traditional kantha throws of Bengal, the chunky knit still uses vintage cotton sarees, which are loomed by the skillful hands of our artisans on peg-knitting looms. 

the earth chunky knit draws from colours of nature in subtle, sophisticated hues of beige, creams and browns with the odd specs of fire-red in-between.

re-purposed and re-cycled, the production of our kantha throws & chunky knits involve the use of no new cloth or dyes and, there are no by-products in their making. 

the artisans who make our kantha throws are from some of the most vulnerable stages - those at risk of trafficking and those who were forced into the sex industry.  

these women are rehabilitated and given sewing lessons and training, within the safe, secure working conditions of the training centres that have been purposely made for this work. there is childcare available, where older children are taught how to read and write. this extends to our artisans as well - most often they have never had any form of education. 

your chunky knit will come stitched with the signature of the artisan who made it - in both bangla & english - a testament to how far they have journeyed.
