kantha - white cotton / red threadwork

material : white 100% cotton  

white cotton with a simple running stitch in red thread work, these kantha's are made for comfort. they grow softer with each wash and are perfect as a bed spread, a throw or even a table cloth. 

the artisans who make our kantha throws are from some of the most vulnerable stages of life - those at risk of trafficking and those who were forced into the sex industry.  

these women are rehabilitated and given sewing lessons and training, within the safe, secure working conditions of the training centres that have been purposely made for this work. there is childcare available, where older children are taught how to read and write. this extends to our artisans as well - most often they have never had any form of education.
